FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA
Many Eastern Caribbean cruises depart from this popular port. So
many cruise lines sail from Ft. Lauderdale, it is known as the "Venice
of America" --- having 165 miles of canals (known as the Intracoastal
Canal) --- that winds through this waterfront city. The beaches are
wonderfully inviting and only minutes from elegant shops and championship
golf courses. After dark, the town offers many five-star restaurants
and exciting nightclubs, all set in a lush tropical environment.
Numerous Ft. Lauderdale beach hotels are across the street from the
beach with excellent access to the sand and water. Sidewalk restaurants
and trendy shops line the streets with great viewing areas to see
all the beach and water activities. There are also water taxis for
great trips through the winding canals. The port of Ft. Lauderdale,
known as Port Everglades, is conveniently located from the airport
as well as from the most popular beach area. Sailing from Ft. Lauderdale
invites guests to come in a day early to take in the experience of
what all Ft. Lauderdale has to offer.
