FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA
Many Eastern Caribbean cruises depart from this popular port. So many cruise lines sail from Ft. Lauderdale, it is known as the "Venice of America" --- having 165 miles of canals (known as the Intracoastal Canal) --- that winds through this waterfront city. The beaches are wonderfully inviting and only minutes from elegant shops and championship golf courses. After dark, the town offers many five-star restaurants and exciting nightclubs, all set in a lush tropical environment.

Numerous Ft. Lauderdale beach hotels are across the street from the beach with excellent access to the sand and water. Sidewalk restaurants and trendy shops line the streets with great viewing areas to see all the beach and water activities. There are also water taxis for great trips through the winding canals. The port of Ft. Lauderdale, known as Port Everglades, is conveniently located from the airport as well as from the most popular beach area. Sailing from Ft. Lauderdale invites guests to come in a day early to take in the experience of what all Ft. Lauderdale has to offer.

LABADEE, HAITI
A secluded spot on the north coast of Haiti, reserved solely for Royal Caribbean guests. Attractions include floats, aquabikes, banana raft rides, snorkeling and other water sports. Also volleyball, beach barbecues, authentic Haitian art and local craftsmen make this resort area one of the favorite ports of call for many.

FREEPORT, NASSAU
Freeport is on the itinerary for many of the three or four night cruises, but rarely is on the seven night or longer cruises. It is known for both its shopping and its casinos ---with shops, cafes and restaurants that spread out over approximately ten acres.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS
Witness the world-famous March of the Flamingos at Ardastra Gardens. Visit Coral World Marine Park and Underwater Observatory, a place unlike anything you've ever seen. They you can swim with the playful dolphins. Of course, there's the world famous straw market and international duty-free shopping too. Nearly every country of the world is represented here with countless items at great duty-free prices. Paradise Island is easily accessible by water taxi and sports beautiful beaches, water activities and the Atlantis Casino. and Hotel.

ST. MAARTEN
An exquisite blend of Dutch and French cultures, St. Maarten boasts stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, and incredible duty-free shopping. Whether you lunch at a charming French cafe or explore the lively Dutch capital of Philipsburg, you will find the dichotomy of St. Maarten perfectly charming. For the fans of sunning in the buff, one of the best beaches on the island is clothing optional. Any taxi driver will be happy to take you there. Since there are no piers in St. Maarten for cruise ships --- all access is by tender.

ST. THOMAS
The U.S. Virgin Islands are the tropical jewels of the United States, with St. Thomas as the centerpiece. Here you will encounter a profusion of flowers and miles of beaches just outside of shops catering to travelers in search of some of the best bargains in the Caribbean. St. Thomas is a popular locale for weddings with some unique chapels and gazebos high above the city overlooking the beautiful ocean. Many couples are choose to be married barefoot on the beach --- either way --- its sure to make for a wedding of dreams and memories beyond belief.

ST. JOHN ISLAND, (U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS) --not to be confused with St. John's Antigua.
Beautiful St. John is the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands. It covers an area of only 28 square miles, two-thirds of which is devoted oto the Virgin Islands National Park. Although the history of the island is long and interesting, the features that make St. John so special are its magnificent beaches and its underwater snorkel trail. The island Trunk Bay Beach is said to be one of the ten most beautiful in the world. While few ships actually port in St. John, the island is easily accessible by water taxi from St. Thomas -- and is the destination of many frequent cruisers who return time after time to savor the beauty of this island paradise.

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO
Distinctively Spanish in flavor, San Juan is an intriguing blend of old and new. You'll be drawn to the open air markets and authentic Spanish restaurants that share the city with lively, modern casinos. Fort El Morro once protected San Juan and now offers a commanding view of the charming old section of the city. The cruise ships berth in the downtown area and are within easy walking distance of shops and casinos.

CATALINA ISLAND, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Very few cruise ships call on this lovely port, however, for the golf enthusiast --- this is a great place to be. Excursions are offered to the exclusive Casa de Campo resort which offers a choice of activities, including a round of golf on the famed "Teeth of the Dog" course.

ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
In addition to its lovely beaches, shops, water sports, and restaurants, St. Croix offers a great deal of natural beauty to explores. Tour the island's rain forest, botanical gardens, wild-life refuges, nature preserves and parks, including the only underwater park run by the US National Park Service.

ST. BARTS, FRENCH ANTILLES
The French have created a country village atmosphere on this eight square mile island where travelers from the world over come to seek paradise. Known to devotees for centuries, the beaches and beauty of St. Barts await your personal discovery.

VIRGIN GORDA
Two outstanding scenic destinations highlight this lovely port of call. First, "The Baths". This natural wonder -- unique in all the Caribbean -- consists of giant boulder which tumbles across the landscape, and atop one another to form labyrinthine caves and clear, salt-water pools that are lit by the rays of the sun. Second is Gorda Sound, a protected anchorage, known the world over by seasoned yachtsmen. Virgin Gorda itself is a rustic cluster of small farms with about 1,000 inhabitants.

TORTOLA
Twenty - one square mile Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands, an unspoiled archipelago that lies in the path of welcome trade winds. Try fishing, snorkeling and sailing excursions out of Road Town's serene harbor ort horseback riding in the shadow of Mount Sage.

ST. BARTS
In the capital town of Gustavia, you will see an intriguing mix of both French and Swedish architecture reflecting the island's varied history. Snorkeling as well as both day and night diving are popular here, while shell collectors can find some additions for their collections at Shell Beach. St. Barts is one of the treasures of the Caribbean that is usually only visited by the smaller sailing vessels, rather than the larger cruise ships.

CASTAWAY KEY
This beautiful little island is owned and visited exclusively by the Disney Cruise Line Ships. One of the nicest privately owned islands, it offers something for children and adults alike. Swimming, boating, and all water activities are readily available, as well as refreshments, food , live band entertainment, and even a tram to take you from the ship to all the various areas of this island. There are no excuses for not having a wonderful time on this day at beach .

HALF MOON CAY
If ever you've dreamed of making the first footprints on the beach of a truly secluded tropical island, here's your chance. Simply step ashore on Half Moon Cay, Holland American's own private island, and make your mark. Then swim and snorkel till the beat of a steel drum band summons you to the beach party and buffet. Calypso and a great time are common-place here.

PRINCESS CAYS
The name says it all here --- this is Princess's own little tropical island offering a day at the beach complete with lounges, hammocks, water activities, and even a waiter to keep you hydrated with soft drinks and your favorite cocktails. The beach side barbecue is outstanding, as is the steel drum band to entertain you. And lest you feel deprived of something to buy --- there are even gift shops to provide you with both Princess logo merchandise, as well as local handcrafts. Many cruise guests claim that the day spent on any private island is their favorite of the entire cruise.

COCO CAY
This one is proudly owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and it distills all of what's wonderful about the Bahamas into one magnificent package. There are water sports of every kind, ships filled with native crafts, an authentic steel band, even a mysterious underwater shipwreck for you to explore. This ship comes complete with professional instructors to help novices get their feet wet and to guide experts to the best spots from which to enjoy the colorful kaleidoscope of fish below.

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
This port is both a port of call for some cruise ships, and a home port for others. Tour the historic section of Charleston and visit St. Michael's Church and the Joseph Manigualt House. City tours by horse carriage and tours to nearby Boone Hall Plantation are also available.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND
From Baltimore's fine harbor, a short journey takes you to the nation's capital where monuments and historic sites abound. See the Capitol Dome, the Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, the White House and so much more. If your ships sails from this port, you may want to go a day early in order to enjoy the surrounding area, which includes Washington, D.C.
